Calculus
Linear Algebra
Proof

Built strong foundations in mathematical reasoning, linear algebra, and calculus for real-world problem solving.

Learning Outcomes

  • Mathematical Reasoning: Applied logical thinking and rigorous proof techniques to solve complex problems.
  • Algebraic Proficiency: Manipulated vectors, matrices, complex numbers, and real-valued functions (inverse/composite).
  • Differential Calculus: Used limits, continuity, and differentiation for approximation, optimisation, and analysis.
  • Integral Calculus: Understood and applied Riemann integration with standard techniques.
  • Applications: Applied concepts from calculus and linear algebra across science and engineering contexts.

Takeaways

This was my foundational mathematics course, covering both linear algebra and calculus. It trained me to manipulate vectors, matrices, and functions on the algebra side, and to apply limits, derivatives, and integrals on the calculus side. The balance between abstract reasoning and concrete problem-solving gave me a strong base for later data science courses. At the same time, the PASS math support program provided by the university was especially valuable.
